Future Manifestations of the PublicsLab at the Graduate Center

Several of the PublicsLab’s initiatives will be institutionalized at the CUNY Graduate Center under the banner of the Public Scholarship Practice Space (PS2), which launches in the fall of 2023. It builds on the strength of engaged research in the arts, humanities, digital humanities, social sciences, and sciences at the GC, as well as the success of PublicsLab and the Seminar on Public Engagement and Collaborative Research, to facilitate both institutional and civic transformation through publicly engaged scholarship.

PS2, housed at the GC’s Center for the Humanities, will develop and launch a Public Scholarship certificate program, as well as explore four additional potential platforms: Graduate Education Transformation Grants; the Provost Summer Research Public Scholarship Fellowships; a Dissertation Innovation Lab; and Engagement and Public Programs.

PS2 will be overseen by Faculty Coordinator, Prithi Kanakamedala, Director of the Center for the Humanities, Kendra Sullivan, and a Presidential Research Fellow. Questions about PS2 can be directed to the Center for the Humanities at ch@gc.cuny.edu.
