Mina Rees Library Open Pedagogy & Communications Intern, Fall 2021

Description

The Mina Rees Library seeks a candidate with a facility for writing and presenting, with an emphasis on clear, precise communication for a general audience. This individual will work closely with the Interim Head of Reference to develop and maintain connections with the Graduate Center community and beyond. They will also further disseminate work by previous and current participants in the Open Pedagogy Fellowship, learning about open resources in the process.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating content for the Mina Rees Library website and social media platforms
  • Revising the visual displays within the Library spaces (display cases in Library entrance and 1st floor exhibit area)
  • Editing a compilation of Open Pedagogy-related essays on Manifold
  • Learning (via reading, webinars, etc.) about topics related to open resources; locating OER in a subject area of your choice

Please submit a cover letter that details any prior experience with public-facing communications/social media, and a current CV or resume. Feel free to give a sense of your own interest in academic libraries, and how this dovetails with your own professional interests.

This internship will consist of approximately 150 hours of work over the course of the Fall 2021 semester. It will be compensated with 3 units of academic credit through IDS 81620: Scholarly Praxis at Work in the World.
